Kinja'd!!!

I made the above meme a while back, and it’s been becoming pretty timeless. Go to any mainstream muscle car or Supra fan page on social media if you don’t believe me.

Oppo’s different. I appreciate how chill the community is here. Most other car media platforms are full of people who take personal offense at any number of car choices.

The concept of being enthusiastic about just about any car is pretty rare, but it’s strong here. We have everything from classics to stance, from microcars to full-size pickups, from mopeds to supercars. And we’re stoked for all of the above.

Keep being awesome, Oppo. Y’all are great. I’m grateful to be a part of this community.

I’d offer that Oppo is simply the best little corner of the interwebs. We genuinely try to be excellent to each other, and Oppo is just big enough that t here are no silos here.

Yep, I tend to avoid both the Corvette forums and the Jaguar forums for pretty good reasons...

Even the kinds of cars I’m not as interested in, I try to understand why other people like them. Because it’s good to see different people’s perspectives, you know? In this day and age, it’s very easy to form cliques and surround yourself with people who simply reinforce the opinions you already have. And that’s unfortunate, because that often results in people being vilified simply because they have different opinions. And that doesn’t do anyone any good. I believe there’s tremendous value in being able to see things from different perspectives even if I don’t agree with all of them, be cause who knows? I might start changing my own opinions because they have a point. Or at the very least, I can have pleasant interactions with many people. And if I only stick fiercely to my same old opinions, how will I ever grow?

I agree, Oppo is chill but let’s not forget Dash’s dickmobile post yesterday that I fully support.  T here are some vehicles I don’t understand or that frankly frustrate me (although I can appreciate that’s likely the point).

Solara or non Solara, Camry coupes are awesome.

Even if I personally am not interested in a particular type of car I love finding out what the appeal is. The automotive kingdom is breatht akingly diverse and there’s no reason to stay huddled in one corner of it debating the best year of 3rd gen Camaro or whatever until the end of time.

This has been the only form of social media I’ve been on since March, and I’ve connected with so many cool people here it’s fantastic. Besides, a typical TSX forum consists of lowered, lit up, illegal street cars and I like to think I’m more of a purist.

And your point holds true about everyone liking cars in general, from panel vans to kei cars. It’s a lovely place to be.
